ROLE OF WADSIS PARTNERS

MARIS BV

Leading roles in:

  • Project Management (Work Package 1)
  • Meta-data web service development (Work Package 3)

In addition to the above MARIS will play significant roles in: Multi-media atlas development (Work Package 4) and Dissemination and Exploitation: Organiser of the European Workshop on the WADSIS Concept and the European Electronic Sounding Board (Work Package 5).

Common Wadden Sea Secretariat (CWSS)
CWSS will play a key role in the Public Interest Group (PIG) (Work Package 2). It will be the PIG-co-ordinator, organiser of the meetings and producing meeting minutes/reports. It will give support to implementing the meta-data web service, among others by collecting, aggregating, integrating and making available, relevant GIS-datasets, in close co-operation with the public data source holders. CWSS will also be full partner and member of the Project Co-ordination Group.

Ecomare
Ecomare will play significant roles in the multi-media atlas development (Work Package 4) and Dissemination and Exploitation (Work Package 5). Sub-contractor CABI Alliance from GB will assist ETI.

EcoMare, an environmental education and information centre for the Wadden and North Sea, operates a visitor centre and a museum and manages educational programmes and training facilities. Considering these and its wide knowledge and understanding of the Wadden Sea EcoMare is very well experienced in drafting and developing educational material as well as in handling related data & information management.

ETI, Expert Centre for Taxonomic Identification
ETI, is a non-governmental organisation in operational relations with UNESCO, and sponsored by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research, the University of Amsterdam and UNESCO. ETI has great experience in publishing of taxonomic and educational environmental information on interactive multimedia CD-ROM's and sponsors the online World Biodiversity Database.

It will have a leading role in:

  • Multi-media atlas development (Work Package 4)
  • Dissemination and Exploitation (Work Package 5)

Public Partners
In addition to these partners the following governmental organisations will join the project partnership, organised in the Public Interest Group. They will provide the basis public information for the WADSIS service and will also act like a consultative group to guide the development of the WADSIS service, thus giving input to information content, operational procedures, charging mechanisms, updating schemes etc.
